Nasdara radio bunker quest: morse code decoder

DayZ Badlands · 80.0 MHz · Bunker door codes

There's a radio broadcast on Nasdara (the Badlands map) that gives away bunker codes in morse code. Tune a radio to 80.0 MHz and you'll hear the beeps: first the bunker's map grid, then the 4-digit code that opens its door. Writing that down by ear is a pain, so let this page do the listening. It turns the beeps into the grid and the code and shows you which bunker it is on the map.

Listen

On air: At night, from sunset until dawn. 3 bunkers are on the radio each night, every one with a 4-digit door code. The message repeats every few minutes. Off air the radio is silent and the bunkers stay shut.

Chrome or Edge: open the Window tab, pick DayZ, switch its audio on, press Share with Audio (picture below). The microphone is for a phone next to your speakers.

Not listening. Beep
What it hears
Dots and dashes show up here while it listens.
The sound stays in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Bunkers heard

None yet. A bunker shows up here as soon as its grid is heard.

A code turns solid once it is heard twice: each message repeats.

DayZ Options, Sound: Effects Volume turned down, Music Volume off

Hear the radio better: in DayZ open Options > Sound, turn Effects Volume right down and Music Volume off. The radio's beeps stay loud; steps, wind, rain and gunfire go quiet, so the beeps come through clean.

What is inside

A crate with a gun case (SCAR-H or SV98), a plate carrier, night vision and a ballistic helmet.

Be quick: the crate disappears about 30 minutes after the bunker opens, once nobody is within 100 m.

If it does not work

  • Beep meter still: share again: the DayZ window on the Window tab, its audio switched on (Firefox and Safari cannot share sound).
  • Radio silent: it is off air. On air: At night, from sunset until dawn.
  • Grey code: heard once, wait for the repeat.
  • Wrong code: quiet the game (music, voice, gunfire), then Save the last 3 minutes and send it to us.

Radio bunker quest FAQ

How does the DayZ Badlands radio bunker quest work?

At night, from sunset until dawn, a radio on 80.0 MHz plays morse code for 3 of the bunkers on Nasdara (the DayZ Badlands map): first a bunker's 6-digit map grid, then the code for its door, always 4 digits. Go to that bunker, type the code on the keypad by the door and press the key button. A crate with good loot waits inside.

What frequency is the bunker radio on?

80.0 MHz. Turn on a Personal Radio or a Base Radio, tune it to 80.0 MHz and keep it in your hands or near you.

How do I read the bunker morse code?

Every digit is five beeps: short dots and long dashes (1 is a dot and four dashes, 0 is five dashes). The 6-digit map grid comes first, then the door code (always 4 digits), and the whole message repeats. This decoder listens to the game sound and writes both down for you, so you do not have to count beeps.

What loot is in the radio bunker crate?

A gun case with a SCAR-H or an SV98, a plate carrier, night vision and a ballistic helmet. Be quick: the crate disappears about 30 minutes after the bunker opens, once nobody is within 100 m.

Where are the radio bunkers on Nasdara?

There are 23 radio bunkers on Nasdara, and 3 of them are on the radio each night. The radio tells you which ones: the decoder shows each one on the interactive map, and the map can show all 23.

This decoder runs entirely in your browser. The game sound, anything you save with "Save the last 3 minutes" and the codes it reads never leave your computer: DayZed.GG does not receive, record or store any of it. Like the rest of DayZed.GG, this page only counts visits with Google Analytics (privacy policy).
